A balanced approach to forest management

Silver Maple Forestry is a small, family run business helping midcoast Maine landowners meet diverse goals. Maybe you enjoy your woods for walking and hunting, and want to improve wildlife habitat. Or, you want guidance on how to harvest firewood and sawlogs in a way that improves the quality of your forest. Maybe your woods are a long-term investment to tend for the next generation. Whatever your goals and interests, we bring knowledge and experience to help you achieve a positive change on your property.

Timber harvesting and other forms of cutting may be the best way to meet your goals. A thoughtful harvest can improve wildlife habitat diversity, increase tree value, and reduce the effects of pests and disease, all while providing income to the landowner. We work with skilled and conscientious logging contractors with a variety of equipment to make sure operations meet your goals.

About Us

Maren Granstrom and Emilio Codega met at the University of Maine’s School of Forest Resources, and now live in Appleton. After graduating with a Masters in Forest Resources, Maren worked for Barrie Brusila of Mid-Maine Forestry. She got her forestry license and started Silver Maple Forestry in 2023. Emilio became a licensed arborist after getting his degree, and transitioned into forestry full time in 2025.

Independent, Locally Owned

We love and care about our community. When you hire Silver Maple Forestry, your money stays in the Maine economy. We have no ties to mills or logging companies. When you hire us, we work solely for you.

Diverse Clientele

We work for land trusts all around the state, town forests, family landowners, loggers, and maple sugar producers.

Diverse Experience

While most of our career has been based in forestry, we’ve done commercial sawing, arboriculture, small-scale logging, carpentry, and commercial fishing. We also love hunting and gathering our food. Our passion is interacting with natural resources.
